Thread Vein Removal, Before & After
What is Unique About ThermaVein?
ThermaVein delivers a small microwave current for under 0.2s at a time. This travels a maximum of 1.5mm into the treated area. In comparison to laser or IPL (intense pulse light) thread vein treatments, ThermaVein is very precise and safe. It minimises trauma to surrounding tissue. ThermaVein is also the only treatment available for threadveins on the septum of the nose or on the eyelid.
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment will last no more than 15 minutes regardless of the number of veins you have. A 15 minute treatment is the maximum time recommended. In some cases the treatment can last less that the permitted time.
Does a Thermavein treatment hurt?
In most cases people do not tend to find ThermaVein painful. It is best described it as a tingling sensation or similar to a hair being plucked. Skin tag treatments can be a little more tender as this involves a more intense treatment.
Thermavein Treatment Aftercare
Avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms and sun exposure for 48 hours after treatment.
Is ThermaVein Safe for Everyone?
Although Thermavein is a very safe treatment, it is not recommended if you are:
- Pregnant
- Epileptic
- If you have applied fake tan - a natural suntan is fine
How Many Treatments Will I Require?
The number of treatments depends on the size of the area to be treated. With a 15 minute timeframe, this limits the size of area that can be treated at any one time. If you have a large number of thread veins you will most likely require a second and maybe a third treatment.
Are the results instant?
You will notice the difference immediately. You will look a little red following your treatment, and some people do develop a little line where the vein has been initially. This is a usual occurrence that will disappear after a few days as the body breaks down the closed vessel.
We recommend a follow up appointment, usually around 4 weeks after your initial treatment to assess the results and see if further treatment is required.
What are the Possible Side Effects?
Unlike laser or IPL treatments, ThermaVein does not cause scarring or bruising, it is an extremely safe procedure.
Are the results permanent?
Once treated, the thread vein or skin tag has been permanently removed. However as you have developed these conditions previously, you may see other veins or tags in the future.
